March Wrap Up
March was at the same time a remarkable and thoroughly unremarkable reading month for me.
I broke into the month by finishing up the really lovely Receiver of Many – an erotic novel with mythical depth which I found would only have been improved by a little less erotic and a little more novel.
I found myself reading two sets of two books which I felt reflected one another in many ways. A Thousand Nights and The Star Touched Queen boasting beautiful, lyrical writing and gorgeous world building (I couldn’t choose between them); The Syndicate and Passenger delivering time travelling romps…with varying degrees of era-hopping fun in tow (Syndicate won the day for me).
The Vampire Games was a quick “Hunger Games with fangs” experience with none of the characterization but a pretty fun concept which kept me going until the final page.
I also managed to slip in an ode to my early teenage years with a visit to the world of Baron Humbert von Gikkingen – yes, I did have a crush on an animated cat. No, I am not ashamed of this fact.
